But how could PT propose an outsider, Prayud, when there are still candidates from the parties to choose from?

In fact, if PT were seen to be asking Prayud to stand, would that not push PP towards choosing Anuthin as PM, assuming they see Anuthin preferable to Prayud?

If PP does choose Anutin but the other BJT coalition partners defect, they wouldn't have the votes. At least that's how I see the "knight in shining armor" scenario playing out, if it does. We're not quite there yet however.

Prayuth is not an outsider.

Ah true, he was the PM candidate for United Nations party. He'd have to resign from the Privy Council though Surayud did the same thing if I recall right.

So would all of PT's coalition parties go along with the proposal? Maybe yes as they don't want an election now, but would Prayud want Thaksin leaning over his shoulder all the time?

I don't think so.
